Librarian – Children's Department Tredyffrin Township, An Equal Opportunity Employer Strafford, PA -- USA Posted 1/22/2010 37.5 hours a week. Hours include 1 night a week and 1 weekend a month. $35,000 - $40,000 Duties: Qualifications: Candidates should have an ALA accredited MLS with coursework in children's services or have a bachelor's degree in a children's field (e.g. Elementary Education) and significant experience working with children. It is extremely important that the candidate should have an existing knowledge of children's literature and an abiding interest in and liking for young people. Prior experience working with children is very desirable. Tredyffrin Township Libraries and the Community Tredyffrin Public Library and Paoli Library serve the 35,000 residents of Tredyffrin Township and Willistown Township in eastern Chester County, Pennsylvania.
We have easy access to the major civic, cultural and sports attractions of southeastern PA. Both Tredyffrin Libraries are close to regional rail lines.
Tredyffrin and Willistown Townships value the quality of life. Tredyffrin Township has approximately 354 acres of parkland with 14 acting parks and 6 open space areas. Six parks are dedicated as permanent open space and serve as nature preserves protecting wildlife, stream corridors and other environmentally sensitive areas. Candidate should function well in a busy environment and enjoy working with children and their caregivers. Primary responsibilities will be planning and implementing programs for children; secondary goals will be collection development and community outreach.
