1.The Adult Services Department of the Henrietta Hankin Library has openings for 3-4 Book Nook Volunteers to put together a new team. The team will be led by the Branch Manager and requires a commitment of three scheduled hours, one day a week to assist with tasks related to the preparation and care of the library's Book Nook areas, and to create attractive spaces in which the library can sell used books? Other tasks include merchandising books to create “eye appeal” and “window dressing.” Having knowledge of popular books and/or an eye for valuable and noteworthy books is a plus but not a requirement as well as retail and/or book sale experience. You can choose when you want to volunteer. Training is provided.
CHESTER COUNTY LIBRARY OPENINGS
1.The AudioVisual Department of the Chester County Library, Exton has an opening for an AV Collection Care Volunteer. The position requires an ability to shelve audiovisual items such as DVDs, videos, audio books, and music CDs in a timely fashion. The volunteer will also shelf read (put materials in correct order). A working knowledge of the Dewey Decimal System is necessary as well as an ability to read fine print, and reach upper/lower shelves. We have 6 weekly evening/weekend assignments available. Training is provided.
If you are available to volunteer on Wednesday evenings from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM or 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM; Friday afternoon 1:00 PM-4:00 PM or 2:00 PM -5:00 PM, or Saturday or Sunday anytime, please see instructions below to apply.
2. The Jacobs Technology Center of the Chester County Library, Exton has an opening for a Technology Center Computer Tutor Volunteer who assists in the PC Skills Tutoring Program and provides one-to-one, hands on instruction in introductory level PC skills to out-of-school adults in Chester County. This volunteer position provides assistance to those who lack the necessary PC skills to effectively use the electronic resources at the Chester County Library. The position requires good oral communication skills, the desire and ability to assist and instruct customers in a positive and friendly manner, and the ability to operate computer equipment and keyboard with ease. Basic Internet searching and PC skills are required. Training is provided.

3. The Circulation Department of the Chester County Library, Exton has an opening for an Adult Collection Care Volunteer. The position requires an ability to shelve books in numeric and alphabetical order accurately. The volunteer will also assist in the Sorting Room, sorting materials into general categories. Our volunteer must be able to pass a shelving test based on the Dewey Decimal System, be able to reach, stand and stoop. Attention to detail is required. Training is provided. If you are available to volunteer weekly on Sunday afternoons from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM or 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, please see instructions below to apply.
4. The Interlibrary Loan Department of the Chester County Library, Exton has an opening for 1 Interlibrary Loan Volunteer Assistant to wrap books and audiovisual materials for return and lending to other libraries outside of the Chester County Library System. There is no interaction with the public in this position and requires a 2 hour weekly shift commitment. We welcome all applications but if you are a student interested in long term library service and can volunteer on Thursday after 3:30PM, this position might also be perfect for you. Note: The Chester County Library continually recruits and accepts applications for Circulation Care Collection and Circulation Shelf Readers as seen above. Positions are filled on an as needed, first come/first served basis. Needs in the department for volunteer staff change on a regular basis.
